Is it allowed to connect two hubs with an optical connection (e.g. a LED on one Hub and a color sensor on the 2nd hub)?2026-02-03T11:21:10+01:00
Yes, that connection of hubs / controllers with optical communication is possible as long as it cannot be used to transfer information from outside the robot.
This will not be considered a wireless communication as mentioned in rule 5.6.
If used, teams have to make sure that both hubs / controllers are stopped, when pressing the stop button.

What is the role of the 9th ball?2026-04-15T13:44:08+02:00
The 9th orange ball was introduced to reduce the likelihood of a draw at the end of a round and to add an additional strategic element to the game. If the 9th ball remains in its starting position until the end of the round, a draw may still occur.
During the match, if all nine orange balls are on the same side of the field, the match ends early according to rule 6.32.4.
The 9th ball starts in the center of the field and is fixed in place using a method defined by the Event Organizers (for example, using a common LEGO 2815 Technic tire).
How is the match time determined?2026-04-15T16:13:02+02:00
The match time is randomized after the robots are ready in a waiting state (waiting for the start button to be pressed), and at the same time as the ball positions are randomized.
The method of randomization may vary and is decided by the Event Organizers. Examples include:
Rolling a standard 6-sided die: Match Time = 60 seconds + (d6 × 10 seconds)
Rolling a 12-sided die: Match Time = 60 seconds + (d12 × 5 seconds)
Using an online randomizer tool: https://rs2026.wro.events/*
The selected match time is announced at the start of the match, allowing both teams and spectators to know how much time is available.

*Note: the randomizer tool is configured for mobile phones, if you open it on a computer please resize the window to portrait/phone dimensions. That will show the full RoboMission field with placements of the balls and the time of the match.

Are there limitations on the number of controllers?2026-04-15T13:41:27+02:00

While in the RoboMission category more than one controller may be allowed, in the RoboSports category each robot must have only one controller, in line with Rule 8.12.
