BUILDING A GLOBAL EDUCATION PLATFORM

2025 was a record year for World Robot Olympiad. More teams competing, more countries participating, and more young people discovering what they’re capable of when given the right tools and guidance.
From a record-breaking International Final in Singapore
– where WRO began in 2004 – to a new free learning platform reaching students in communities where competitions aren’t yet possible, this report tells the story of an organization that is growing with purpose.

The Biggest Final Yet

In 2025, the WRO International Final returned to Singapore where it all began 21 years ago. 595 teams from 91 countries competed, alongside 3,381 international delegates and 1,500 local visitors. The largest WRO Final in history.

Lowering the Barrier

RoboStarter grew 90 %, engaging 15,412 students across 283 events worldwide. 1,012 robotics kits were distributed across 36 countries. And WRO Learn – a new free learning platform – reached 5,000 learners and educators in its first six months.

Real Impact, Measured

Independent evaluation confirms what coaches and judges observe on the ground: WRO participation raises STEM confidence – by 15 percentage points. And 9 out of 10 students feel more confident building real-world STEM solutions after participating.

YOUNG INNOVATORS HELP THE BLIND LEARN

A Testing the braille machine

When Vivaan (10) and Tvisha (12) joined WRO, they wanted to build something that would matter. They visited blind schools in Mumbai, learned Braille themselves, and built a machine to help visually impaired children learn more independently – with alphabets in English, Marathi, and Hindi.
Team Braillence won 3rd Place in Future Innovators (Elementary) at the WRO 2025 International Final in Singapore.

“Robots can be tiny, but they can still help somebody make their life better.”

Vivaan Vaibhav Shah.

WHAT COMES NEXT

The foundation built in 2025 creates momentum for 2026. World Robot Olympiad’s priorities are clear: expand access in emerging regions, scale WRO Learn to 60,000 users, and deepen the partnerships that make global STEM education possible.

With new game concepts in development, AI being integrated thoughtfully into competitions, and a growing network of national organizers, WRO is ready for what comes next.

“We want young people to explore, experiment, and develop creativity. Multi-platform openness and AI offer new opportunities to be seized.”
