World Robot Olympiad (WRO) is proud to announce the MathWorks Modeling Award, a special recognition celebrating teams that demonstrate creativity and technical skill using MATLAB and Simulink in their project designs. This initiative reflects MathWorks’ ongoing commitment to encouraging students to use powerful engineering tools to solve real-world challenges.

At the International Final 2025 in Singapore (26–28 November), the MathWorks Modeling Award will be given to the team that delivers the most innovative and effective solution using MATLAB and/or Simulink. This award will be available to both the Future Innovators and Future Engineers categories.

The winners will be honored during the official WRO awards ceremony and receive a trophy as a symbol of their accomplishment. In addition, they will be invited to share their story through a featured blog post on the MathWorks Student Lounge Blog, with their stories also highlighted on MathWorks Student Instagram and promoted by WRO.

To support their continued growth, the winning teams will also take part in an exclusive four-hour mentoring session with a MathWorks engineer—an opportunity to receive personalized guidance and expand their knowledge of industry-leading tools.

“Through this award, we want to inspire and support the next generation of innovators who are shaping the future and create a community of MATLAB and Simulink users within the WRO competition,” said Lauren Tabolinsky, Senior Manager of Global Student and Academic Programs, MathWorks.

Claus Ditlev Christensen, Secretary General of WRO, added,
“We are thrilled to expand our partnership with MathWorks to introduce an award that connects innovation in robotics with industry-leading tools. This award encourages teams to go deeper in their design process—and rewards those who can clearly model, simulate, and communicate their ideas. It’s a perfect example of how WRO bridges education and the real world.”
