Singapore, 28 November 2025 — The World Robot Olympiad International Final 2025 concluded this evening at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre, wrapping up three days of intense competitions, creative problem-solving, and international camaraderie. As one of the largest robotics competition, the International Finals brought together more than 3,300 young robotics enthusiasts from close to 100 countries as they returned to the birthplace of WRO.
Celebrating Global Excellence in Robotics
The event concluded with a closing ceremony that felt more like a celebration than a formal wrap-up. Teams from all four categories — RoboMission, RoboSports, Future Innovators, and Future Engineers — were recognised for their teamwork, ingenuity, and problem-solving. Partner awards, like the Aramco Innovation Award, celebrated engineering excellence and youth-led robotics solutions designed to tackle real-world challenges. These moments reflected what WRO stands for across all categories: creativity, teamwork, and persistence.
The winner of the Future Innovators Senior Category, who also won an Aramco Innovation Award, was Team Sprout from Costa Rica: “There were moments when we were so tired we didn’t want to keep going, but our coach — who’s also our dad — and our families kept pushing us. Representing Costa Rica on a world stage like Singapore kept us going too. We fundraised to get here, people believed in us, and standing here with first place in the world just feels incredible.”
Team Sprout consists of team members Emma Music, Alanna Music and Joel Chen. A full list of winners is available below.
“Welcoming the WRO International Final back to Singapore has been deeply meaningful, especially since the very first edition in 2004 began right here,” said Ms Lynette Tan, CEO of Space Faculty. “Over the last three days, we have witnessed young talents from around the world show us what the Future of Robotics means to them. Platforms like WRO matter, they build bridges, forge friendships, and inspire bright young minds to grow into the changemakers our world needs. I am immensely proud that Space Faculty could help bring this global community together, and I hope the participants will remember their time in Singapore as a true homecoming.”
WRO 2026 in Puerto Rico
The host country for next year was also announced: Puerto Rico will host the WRO International Final in 2026. This vibrant island, known for creativity and innovation, has a fast-growing STEM ecosystem and graduates an exceptionally high share of STEM students, supported by more than 80 accredited universities and nationally recognised engineering programmes. Hosting WRO 2026 builds on this momentum and underscores Puerto Rico’s role as a regional STEM leader.
“Hosting WRO 2026 is a milestone for Puerto Rico. Our island has worked for years to strengthen STEM education, and welcoming the global WRO community is a chance to show what our students and educators are capable of,” said prof. Cesar Cabrera, National Organizer of WRO in Puerto Rico. “We are proud to represent the Caribbean and to inspire even more young people to see themselves in science, engineering, and innovation.”
“WRO’s decision to bring our International Final to Puerto Rico builds on our long-standing presence in the Americas,” said Claus Ditlev Christensen, Secretary General of the World Robot Olympiad Association. “With its growing STEM community and its close ties to the Caribbean, Latin America, and the United States, Puerto Rico is a natural and welcoming host for our flagship event — an inspiring meeting point for young innovators from across the region.”
