Singapore, November 28, 2025 — The 2025 Aramco Innovation Award winners were announced today at the World Robot Olympiad™ (WRO®) International Final in Singapore, recognizing the top three teams whose robotic projects are a brilliant showcase of young people tackling global challenges.

This season, more than 5,700 teams from over 95 countries competed in the Future Innovators category — one of WRO’s competition categories and a project-based challenge in which young teams develop robotic solutions aimed at adressing global problems. This year, instead of just one winner, the top three winning teams were honored with the Aramco Innovation Award.

Presented in partnership with Aramco, the award highlights how WRO’s global community supports young innovators to transform robotic ideas into real-world impact, combining creativity, technical skill, and social purpose.

Claus Ditlev Christensen, Secretary General of World Robot Olympiad Association, said:
“The Aramco Innovation Award is about more than recognition — it’s about opportunity. It showcases what’s possible when young people are given the tools and support to turn their ideas into working prototypes – and the confidence to see themselves as the problem-solvers the world needs.”

Hussain Hanbazazah, Aramco Vice President of Communications Operations & Corporate Citizenship, said: “At Aramco, we invest in STEM programs that broaden opportunity and help to equip young people with real-world skills. Our partnership with the World Robot Olympiad reflects our aim to build a global ecosystem where young minds can explore, compete, and develop impactful solutions. The Aramco Innovation Award recognizes that journey from exploration through competition to innovation, and reinforces our support for those who pursue it.”

As part of their prize, the three winning teams will travel to Seoul, South Korea, for an exclusive innovation experience that will offer students a curated blend of academic exposure, industry engagement, and cultural immersion. Over the course of the visit, participants will connect with leading universities, technology innovators, and cultural institutions, gaining insight into one of the world’s most dynamic innovation landscapes. The experience highlights the importance WRO places on fostering scientific curiosity and thoughtful innovation, inspiring students to further pursue STEM and contribute to future research landscapes.

Expanding Access to Robotics Education
The Future Innovators category stands apart because it requires students to work on real-world problems. From health and education to sustainability and accessibility, teams take on local challenges with the potential for global impact. During the process, they learn that innovation happens locally, making use of community knowledge and insight.

To widen this opportunity, WRO and Aramco are expanding the category through tailored robotics kits and the launch of WRO Learn, a global learning platform with training resources for students and educators.

The goal is scalable learning — enabling more educators to reach more students — and better access for underserved communities.

What is the Aramco Innovation Award?
The Aramco Innovation Award, established in 2024 through a global partnership with WRO, honors student-led robotics solutions that respond to real-world challenges with bold thinking and technical ingenuity. The award supports WRO’s broader mission to expand access to high-quality STEM education worldwide and inspire future leaders and changemakers.

Now in its second year, the Aramco Innovation Award is already showing results. After Venezuelan team Robotic Dreamers took home the prize in 2024, participation in the country’s Future Innovators category has more than doubled in 2025, from 683 to 1,273 participants.
