The World Robot Olympiad Foundation Inc. is a 501c3 USA nonprofit organization* founded to support the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) Association and its efforts to encourage as many young people as possible to take an interest in the fields of science, technology, engineering & math (STEM) through educational robotic competitions and activities in the United States and worldwide.
The WRO Association was created in 2004 to provide an opportunity for youth from around the world to expand their horizons and gain valuable STEM skills through robotic competitions. In the first year, 12 countries took part in the inaugural international final competition held in Singapore.
Today, over 70,000 youth age 7 through 25 participate in WRO local tournaments held in over 70-member countries. Teams compete at the local and national level for the right to travel to the WRO International Final, which takes place in a different country each year. (More information about the WRO Association can be found here)
In 2018, the Board of Directors of the WRO Association decided to create a 501C3 foundation based in the United States. The WRO Foundation will enable the WRO Association to build on their past success, allowing more youth from the US and around the world to experience the life-changing experience of international robotics competitions.
