WRO welcomes LEGO® Education WeDo 2.0

We are very proud to be able to present a brand-new addition to the WRO competitions!

We have teamed up with the people at LEGO® Education to design two competition formats for children under 10 years old, based on the engaging LEGO Education WeDo 2.0 platform.

Why is WeDo 2.0 a great addition to the WRO events?

WeDo 2.0 gives elementary students the ideal tools to work on their robotics and programming skills. The block-based programming platform of WeDo 2.0 is a natural first step towards the LEGO® MINDSTORMS® platform, which makes this new competition format a great entry point into WRO.

Did you know that WeDo 2.0 is not only easy-to-use, but also enables students to build more elaborate and complex robots? By using the WeDo 2.0 multihub function, students can connect 3 hubs to one device* and then use a function called “send block” to send commands from one device to another (if they share the same network). This way, there is no limit to your creativity!

*For the best multihub function experience, we recommend the iOS system.

Getting started with WRO WeDo competitions

In the 2018 WRO season we offer two competitions with WeDo 2.0:

  • Regular Category based challenge
  • Open Category based challenge (WeDo 1.0 is allowed as well)

The General & Game can be downloaded from our website

Our National Organizers can select if they want to start a WeDo 2.0 competition in their country.

Please note that there will not be an international final for the WeDo competitions in 2018. The competition is only a national opportunity at the moment.
